In many ways, we are at the height of our cleverness at 4 a.m. So many brilliant ideas occur to us at four in the morning but as a rule they are gone by the time the alarm goes off a few hours later.

Not so today.

While my body and mind are still responding to Chinese time cues, making me think four a.m. is a darn good time to get up and start the day, I happen to be awake and aware of the pre-down cleverness which most of us sleep through.

Još je nešto sasvim osobeno kod ovog romana, u odnosu na mnoga druga književna dela koja tematizuju Holokaust. Iako, kroz moto romana, „Iza svakog imena krije se priča“, i navođenje 9000 imena ubijenih italijanskih Jevreja, Drndić podseća na značaj svake pojedinačne žrtve, Sonnenenschein je, pre nego roman o žrtvama, roman o njihovim dželatima.

 

Divno je da dva meseca nakon povratka sa ekspedicije prica o Antarktiku, zastiti zivotne sredine, iskustvu i dalje zivi i objavljuje se u medijima..... svakako prica je tek pocela i nastavice da se razvija i dalje...

Poslednji tekst objavljen je u dnevnim novinama Press i ovom prilikom zelim da ga podelim sa vama. Nadam se da cete uzivati i jedva cekam komentare, misljenja....

In the old days, we used to happy when the phone would ring.

In the old days, the phone was a fixed object in some corner of the house, usually next to a comfortable chair, so you could sit and chat with whoever was on the other side of the receiver. When the phone would ring, we usually knew who it might be - a friend, your Aunt Wendy, your sister in Chicago.

Or Bob.

But that was then. Today Bob never calls. You read his Facebook updates. You might occasionally exchange "likes," possibly the odd instant message chat. And in the end, you know pretty much what Bob has been doing and what he likes and what is happening around him. The same for your sister and Aunt Wendy. The virtual nature of our communications today means that we have the impression of talking to people all the time. We open some social media site with our morning coffee or tea and instantly know what our thousands of friends are doing. Especially the friends we never met.
